Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code (OSH Code)
One of the four Labour Codes, consolidating 13 earlier safety and working-conditions laws into 14 chapters and 143 sections, covering hours, leave, safety standards and inter-state migrant workers.
The OSH Code merges older laws — the Factories Act, Contract Labour Act, Inter-State Migrant Workmen Act and others — into one framework. It covers working hours, overtime, leave, and workplace safety obligations.
It has 14 chapters and 143 sections. Overtime remains payable at 2x the ordinary wage rate under the Code on Wages’ §14, with hours-of-work rules set out here.
Why it matters now: content or decks that still say “13 chapters” are citing a stale draft-era count — always state 14 chapters, 143 sections.
